In 1927 supervising Principal Lester K. Ade and the State Department of Public Instruction began to survey land in Muncy. A 12-acre lot located on the south side of Penn Street and between Sherman and Painter Streets was purchased from Neil Davis. The construction of the 56 room building began in October 1931; the cornerstone was laid on November 24, 1931. The school was completed in July 1932. The total cost of the structure was $185,000 (approximately 4 million dollars in 2023). 

At the start of the 1930s, America was in the Great Depression. Muncy-Muncy Creek School District had just consolidated the one and two room schoolhouses -- Glade Run, the Port Penn, Turkey Bottom and the Clarkstown schools to bring students into the new Muncy-Muncy Creek School. 

Eleanor Roberts, the wife of Steve Roberts, who was a physical education teacher at Muncy from 1933 - 1936, sat down one day and created the Muncy Alma Mater. Although she was not a famous musician, she did write both the words and music for the students at Muncy.
