Ansel Adams was a very famous landscape photographer that lived until 1984. He pioneered the way for other photographers to become artists. Ansel Adams wanted people to know that the photographer was more important than the camera they used. The photographer was the one who could move the camera and make the magic happen, with the correct lighting, angle, and distance from the subject of the art. What kind of landscape, cityscape, or seascape could you capture in your neighborhood?

Dorothea Lange was a photographer who documented the world and the people around her through her camera. Her photographs tell stories of how people lived during the time they were taken. The photograph, Migrant Mother, is one of the most famous photographs in the world and shows a mother caring for her children during the great depression, when it was difficult for families to earn enough money for food and shelter. The photo "Pledge of Allegiance" shows a time during World War II when life was often difficult for Japanese Americans.
