This is done so you can easily take the needle off and return it to the magnet strips at the end of class.
DO NOT LEAVE ANY NEEDLES ATTACHED TO PROJECTS AT THE END OF CLASS!

This stitch is used to sew the edges of your pillow or plushie.

1. Pillows need two separate pieces of felt or fabric the exact same size. You may decorate both sides however you choose with felt scraps, embroidery, or embellishments. You MUST do this before you begin sewing your pillow together.

2. You will be sewing your pillow together inside out. This means the part you want to show of both sides of your pillow will be touching each other and facing inwards (don't worry your pillow will not be inside out at the end!).

3. Start your needle and string with a knot on it in one corner, then sew using the whip stitch (video below!) all the way around the pillow, leaving about five finger widths at the end to stuff.

How to sew a plushie
Step 1: Create a pattern out of paper
Step 2: Trace your pattern onto two pieces of felt, one for the front and back of your plushie
Step 3: Decorate the front and back pieces of your plushie with felt scraps, puffy paint, google eyes etc. as needed
Step 4: Sew the front and back of the plushie together, leaving a little bit of room to stuff it. Use the whip stitch (video above).
Step 5: Stuff your plushie with fabric filling!
Step 6: Sew the rest of the plushie closed
