We recognize that our students learn best when they are in-person with our teachers and their peers. As such, this year’s instructional model consists of a full-return of all students to in-person learning. In an effort to return to our pre-pandemic educational program families will no longer have the option of selecting fully remote instruction for their students. Classrooms and other instructional areas will generally allow for physical distancing of three (3) feet.
Elementary students special area instruction (art, computer, science, music, library, PE, etc.) will take place in the special area classrooms.
Secondary School students will be assigned lockers.
The homework program will resume in person at each Elementary Schools and extra help will resume in person at the Secondary School.
The District will resume field trips.
The New York State Department of Health recommends three (3) feet of physical distancing for all classrooms including music classrooms.
Best practices are observed in an effort to minimize risk of COVID-19 transmission. This includes students not sharing wind instruments or materials. Additionally, bell covers with MERV filters will be used for wind instruments.
Physical Education occurs in the gym or outside (weather permitting).
Students will not change or use lockers during Physical Education.
Instruction focuses on:
individual pursuits or skills rather than traditional team sports or activities.
games and activities that require no physical contact and do not require students to be in close physical proximity to each other.
The District will continue to support school-sponsored athletics and extracurricular activities in order to provide students with enrichment opportunities that can help them learn and achieve, and support their social, emotional, and mental health.
The full schedule of extra-curricular activities and athletics will resume in-person.
The District will continue to monitor guidance from the New York State Public High School Athletic Association as well as Section VIII.
Student athletes will have access to lockers.
Mitigation strategies in these activities remain important and will comply with school day policies and procedures.
