My inspiration for this piece was traditional Chinese art and paper parasols. However, to add a more modern twist and fit the theme of a mini modern art museum, I used thread to connect the parasols with the museum and with each other.
I was inspired by the Andy Warhol-style pictures of Marilyn Monroe and by the various hangings in MoMa.
Instead of using photos online, I used the ones I took from our very own Moma trip! I wanted colorful, fun pieces that spoke to me. I also did a sculpture and a hanging string piece that I saw, just because I liked them and it was different. Also the little yellow guy I painted really drew me in at Moma- I saw him right as we were leaving to meet with the group. I also got inspired by the walls in Moma, so reflective and holographic! I wanted to recreate it using cds, a lot harder than I thought, but worth it
I wanted to do something out of the box, which is why I liked the idea of immersive contemporary pieces and was inspired by those at the MOCO, (Modern-Contemporary museum in Amsterdam). I also tried to choose pieces that had a strong, yet sometimes controversial, message (feminism, anti-war).
This mini museum was inspired by the idea that ones perception can heavily influence their understanding of a story, so without a definitive picture they can receive different messages, even just through one connected line.
I was inspired by some pieces that I saw online that were in MOMA. Blue seemed to be a common color in these pieces, which is why I decided to make my theme blue. I recreated the pieces I liked and then added in my own piece of my bedroom window. I also added some furniture to go with the blue theme.
I was inspired by two different exhibits in the MOMA. The first floor focuses on Abstract Expressionism with different splatter paintings and the second floor focuses on one line technique. The second floor is filled with one line sculptures that were crafted out of hot glue.

Covid-19 has been very difficult on us all and has been shown to either worsen or bring on mental illness that might not have been present before. I wanted to shed light on this concept and remind everyone that they are not alone during this difficult time.
