In this video watch how a young activist, Marley Dias, saw inequity in her 5th-grade classroom and set out to change it. She started #1000BlackGirlBooks where black girls are the protagonists. By doing this Dias was able to connect more with books and helped start a much-needed initiative. Dias is now 16 the author of her own book but is helping young activists today know the steps they need to take to change the world.
In this video watch how Sidney Keys III started a book club called Books N Bros to get young men of color involved in reading and understanding more about their history. Sidney struggled with his own disability and found that reading and running these book clubs were an outlet. He has even caught the attention of Marvel comics as he currently has his own comic called "The Spectacular Sidney" and is referred to as a "superhero" of reading.
