Hi! I'm Ms. Ryan! I'm currently a senior at TCNJ and will be serving as a student teacher in Mrs. Juarez's classroom from the beginning of the school year until early December. I am a History Secondary Education major at TCNJ and will be graduating in the spring.
I'm originally from Milltown, NJ, most notably in the New Brunswick/East Brunswick area. Prior to being in Montgomery this semester, I taught a law unit in Bordentown Regional High School and had smaller practicum assignments in Ewing and Robbinsville. I'm beyond excited to be in 8th grade Social Studies this year, especially considering the American Revolution is one of my favorite historical periods to study!
When it comes to the classroom, my educational philosophy is based on three core values:
Every student is welcome, no matter what their background is
Lessons should be taught in a creative and engaging manner
Tough lessons in history should be tackled in an age-appropriate manner, not shied away from
Outside of the classroom, I'm very involved on the TCNJ campus, specifically with theatre, where I work as an usher and frequently serve as a stage manager. I've also worked as an HSS Peer Mentor and spent two years on the Executive Board for Women in Learning and Leadership.
I'm very excited to be in Mrs. Juarez's classroom this year and to get to work in UMS! Please feel free to reach out with any questions, comments, or concerns to erinryan@mtsd.us
