I am so excited to be starting my seventh year at Montgomery Upper Middle School as the blue team social studies teacher! I have always loved history and learning more about the past and this year I get to share that excitement with students who are the future of our world.
I am originally from Toms River, NJ and I grew up down by the beach. I graduated from The College of New Jersey with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and History. I have also taught in the Montgomery School District for an additional three years at the Lower Middle School campus. There I taught 6th grade Language Arts and Social Studies. I enjoy teaching social studies because there are so many opportunities to incorporate my LA background through activities that are focused on reading and writing skills here in addition to social studies content. This will be my 10th year in the district, which is very exciting!
Along with teaching I also love theatre arts, but not as a performer. I enjoy running the show from behind the scenes back stage and through directing, Since being in district, I have worked the UMS and LMS production teams on many shows including: The Wizard of Oz, Footloose, A Night of Hope, Cinderella, and Moana Jr. Working on these shows can be fast paced and so much fun!
I also serve the UMS community as the 8th Grade class advisor so I coordinate the Camp Mason trip in October and the Promotion Ceremony in June. This year I will also be the school newspaper advisor (The Claw) which is an exciting new role for me.
I look forward to getting to know all of my students and partnering with their parents to help them grow as students and people!
