Social & Emotional Learning

Social and Emotional Learning is also a core component of the kindergarten program.  In addition to student growth, Orchard Hill builds responsible citizens, beginning in kindergarten.  Full-day kindergarten will lead to increased opportunities for:

• Student-teacher connection

• Peer-to-peer interaction

• Purposeful use of movement and brain breaks (More time allows for less strain on instructional time and provides teachers the flexibility to make important choices based on individual or class needs)

• Building independence

• Cultivating social skills with an emphasis on sharing, identifying feelings, asking for help, etc.
