Greater success in core subjects. Longitudinal data demonstrates that children in full-day kindergarten classes show greater reading and mathematics achievement gains than those in half-day classes (Walston and West)
Teachers will have more time to identify and address student learning challenges as early as possible, therefore increasing the odds that children will be successful later in school (Center for Evaluation & Education Policy)
More time spent in:
Individualized instruction
Purposeful play, small groups
An increased opportunity for student reflection and self-assessment
An increase in the number of instructional blocks per day (in-district analysis, 2019)
