Schoolwide, student behavior is acknowledged through positive feedback. Oftentimes, students will receive a tangible reminder of that feedback in the form of an Eagle Ticket, a small piece of paper that they can add their name to and collect.
Throughout the school year, Eagle Tickets will be utilized to earn tangible and experiential incentives. Eagle tickets may be received with varied frequency in accordance with current school, classroom and personal goals and needs.
Once a week, we celebrate a class who has demonstrated the Donges Bay Way in specials classes (Art, ICC, Music, and PE). Students can earn "Big Eagle Tickets" in class and we select a class via raffle. They get a stuffed eagle trophy to keep in their classroom for the week.
One pathway toward incentives is the Eagle Express Store. The Eagle Express will maintain a stock of tangibles (e.g. pencils, erasers) and experiences (e.g. lunch with the principal, open gym with PE staff) that students can "purchase" with Eagle Tickets. Students will have access to the Eagle Express during their lunchtime once per month.
We are eager to have parent volunteers to support the operations of the Eagle Express. Please reach out if you're interested in helping.
Each month, nine students and one staff member are acknowledged for demonstrating expected behaviors. These students receive a special announcement over the intercom, a t-shirt, and a certificate to remember their positive contributions
Other incentives may vary within the classroom. Examples include spirit days (e.g. pajama day, wacky sock day), special time set aside (e.g. free choice, movie, electronic time, additional recess), or a class treat (e.g. popcorn, popsicles). Occasionally, the school may come together toward a larger incentive for the entire community.
