I also enjoying volunteering by tutoring students with math and English via Zoom. This past summer, I was a part of the Cybersecurity camp at Pace University. This experience has allowed me to look into fields in cybersecurity and computer science. I am looking forward to mentoring the 6th grade girls and being a role model for them.
Marina Kidangen - 12th Grade

In school, I am a science research student and am researching the effect of beta-amyloid proteins on an Alzheimer's disease brain using PET imaging. Additionally, I am the treasurer of Tech Crew, a member of the Science National Honor Society/National Honor Society, a flutist, and a science tutor. Outside of school, I am a dance teacher and child care provider. To add on, I attended a series of informative workshops through Burke Neurological Institute.
Evalyne Shim - 10th Grade
My name name is Eva Shim and I am in 10th grade. Back in 6th grade I took part in a Girls for Tech event where I was first exposed to the world of computer science. Ever since then I have always had a great interest in science, math, and technology!
Currently, I am excelling in AP Computer Science Principles where I am learning about how our everyday computers work and solve problems. In that class, I am also learning how to code using Scratch, which is now one of my most favorite pass times, alongside reading and playing the piano. After school, I participate in the Tech Crew and Science Olympiad where I can independently learn and study about the various sciences such as anatomy and physiology, physics, and geology. I am an aspiring artist who loves ceramics and the digital arts as well. On my own time, I take an intensive mixed media art class to build up my pre-college portfolio and compete in a variety of art contests. I am active in the school’s yearbook club and also write book reviews for the local library. My career goal is to work in animation / graphic design and game development where I can apply my knowledge of math and science with my passion for the visual arts! Through my high school years I hope to inspire creative minds to go into STEAM and learn that science and the arts can go hand in hand.
Melania Petriccione - 10th Grade
My name is Melania Petriccione and I am currently in 10th grade. I have always been interested in science and math and have participated in a number of classes and extracurriculars related to those subjects! Last summer I joined Camp Cryptobot, a cyber security-based camp where students engaged in coding challenges and learned from mentors in the field. Also, in both 2020 and 2021, I participated in the virtual STEAM Symposium where I was exposed to professionals from all fields STEAM-related! Outside of school, I am a club swimmer who swims all year round and I'm on the school's varsity swim team. In my free time, I enjoy curling up with a good book, volunteering out in the community, sometimes through the school's service club, and playing the flute! Additionally, I am a member of the school's math club and frequently attend meetings. Looking towards the future, I hope to pursue a career in which I can work towards my STEAM strengths and, over the course of the 2021-2022 school year, I am looking forward to continuing to help spread STEAM to young girls throughout the school.
