Your child is welcome to come and try out for 4 sessions before deciding whether they want to join. But before they try out, you will need to fill out a Youth Membership application form. This is for insurance purposes.
There is no requirement to wear a Scout uniform during the trial period and fees are not payable if you decide not to join.
First work out what section is age appropriate and then email us to let us know you will be coming. We frequently have activities outside of the scout hall and we would hate for you to turn up when we’re not there!
Meetings are held during ACT school terms although there are occasional camps and activities held on weekends or during school holidays. Most meetings are held at our Scout Hall.
Please remember to sign the attendance register when dropping off your Joey or Cub. Scouts and Venturers can sign for themselves but please ensure the appropriate leaders are present before leaving your child at the hall.
Click on this form and fill out the information - you may require the details noted below:
Scout Group = Mount Mugga Scout Group - Red Hill
Section = Joeys or Cubs or Scouts or Venturers
Note: You must complete this form prior to your child coming to any of our section meetings (irrespective of whether they have decided to join or not) – this is for our insurance purposes.

scouts@mtmugga.com.auMatt Dadswell
venturers@mtmugga.com.auThe scout uniform is comprised of:
a uniform shirt;
a Mount Mugga scarf; and
a woggle (a small leather band which clasps around the scarf).
Families will need to purchase the uniform shirt but the scarf and woggle will be provided by the Scout Group.
Shirts can be purchased online from The Scouts Shop. We have a small number of second hand shirts for sale at the Scout Hall. Sales of second hand shirts is conducted on an honour system. If you wish to purchase a shirt, please take one and email the membership secretary using our Contact Us form to request an invoice.
All registered scouting members are expected to wear their uniform when attending scouting events/meetings. No uniform is required when trying out.
There are a number of badges which will need to be sewn on to the shirt. These badges are provided by the Group and are presented to the youth member together with a scarf and woggle at their Investiture. Click here for a badge placement guide.
There are three parts to the fees:

Once a new scouting member, or a member moving up to the next section, has completed the requirements for that section, they can be invested. This is a short ceremony where a youth publicly announces their commitment to the Scout Promise and Law by reciting the words of each. The section leader will advise when this ceremony will take place. Parents are welcome to attend.
Youth must wear their uniform for this ceremony; all membership paperwork must have been submitted and fees paid; and requirements for investiture into the relevant section completed.
