The most successful Scout Groups are those where there is strong adult support. We encourage all parents to become registered ACT Scouts adult helpers. We won’t ask you to do anything you are not willing to do, but you cannot attend any overnight scouting activities nor help on more than an occasional basis unless you are a registered adult helper.
DON'T LEAVE IT TOO LATE. The process to get a WwVP card can be lengthy and you don't want to miss out on the fun.
There are 4 steps to becoming an Adult Helper:
Obtain a Working with Vulnerable People card - note membership is conditional on continuing renewal
Complete an Adult Membership Application form - you will need to include a scan or photo of your WwVP card and the names of two referees.
Ask your referees to complete a Referee report - see below
Complete two eLearning modules (WHS and ChildSafe) - takes approx 1.5 hours to complete
1. If you haven't already obtained a Working with Vulnerable People Card, click on the form to apply. Note you will be taken to an Access Canberra website.
If your only reason for applying for the card is to assist with scouting, you can apply for General Registration as a Volunteer. The Regulated Activity Employer / Organisation is

3. Now ask your two referees to complete a referee report. You can send them this link (http://tinyurl.com/ScoutsRefereeReport) or ask them to click on the form icon to the left.
They will need the following information to complete the form:
Referee Name = your referee's name
Referee Email = your referee's email address
Group Leader Name = Alan Laing
Group Leader email = gl@mtmugga.com.au
Applicant's Name = your name (that is the person who wants to become an Adult Helper)
The Group Leader will receive the reports automatically via email once they are completed.
4. Once Scouts ACT has received your Adult Member Application form; a copy of your WwVP card and the two referee reports, you will be emailed your unique Scouts ID and instructions for accessing the online eLearning modules (WHS and ChildSafe).
These don't take long to complete and once you have finished, you will be a registered Scouts ACT Adult Helper.
Becoming a leader within the scouting movement is a rewarding experience. If you think you have the right qualities for leadership of youth, please email the Group Leader using our Contact Us form.
The initial process for applying to be an Adult Leader is the same as applying to be an Adult Helper, so we recommend you start with those forms.
