the Energy Resource of Australia (ERA) gave the mine $57 million to start exploring the mine site and over time the increased to $120 million. 

some jobs at the ranger uranium mine are radiation safety advisor, truck driver and a Environment Safety and health (ES&H). Some jobs in the wider community are the mine was discovered in 1969 and the town of jabiru was founded in 1982 many people from the town worked in the mine until it closed in 2021 some of these people now work in environmental rehabilitation. As jabiru is located in they Kakadu national park many people work for the nation park and did not rely on the mine solely. 

the closest neighbouring town to the mine is jabiru and the mine shut down in 2021 and the 1000 people living in jabiru worked for the mine but now jabiru and the mine is more a tourist location.
