How Does Counseling Help Students?

Elementary and middle school counselors help students develop knowledge, behaviors and skills that are necessary for children to become healthy and competent learners.  Counselors help students learn how to identify their emotions and manage responses to difficult feelings.  At Mount Shasta Elementary School and Sisson, we offer counseling services as a resource to support academic success as well as the social and emotional growth of our students.  Our aim is to help students develop a healthy sense of self, resilience, and empathy for themselves and others.
