Overview
The landscape of offering graduate programs in MSU-GSC School of Graduate Studies (SGS) was changed to meet the requirements set by globalization, internalization of higher education, and the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In effect, the SGS aims to cultivate a culture of research and innovation, especially in teacher education, business administration, engineering, and public administration. It gives premium on interdisciplinary discipline and profession involving:
rigorous evaluation of academic work;
cutting-edge and interrogative teaching-learning contents and strategies
professional experience via teaching, research, and faculty exchange; and
production of original research or creative work.
 Its main goal is to equip and produce graduate students with advanced skills and competencies that can spur and sustain:
Leadership and innovation;
Scientific and technological growth;
Entrepreneurship;
Good governance;
Inclusive economic development and environmental security;
Independent international relations;
Articulation of Filipino culture and arts;
Cultural and religious diversity; and
Nationalism integrating the university's unique mission of promoting harmony between Muslims, IPs, and non-IPs.

The Acting Chancellor
JD Usman D. Aragasi, MPA, continued the unfinished term of the late Dr. Anshari P.Ali as Acting Chancellor of MSU General Santos. He hailed from Bantayao, Lumba Bayabao, Lanao del Sur. JD Aragasi served as the MSU Board of Regents secretary from 2017 to 2021 and finally joined MSUGSC’s workforce in March 2021 as the Vice Chancellor of Administration and Finance. He graduated with Bachelor of Science in International Relations(BSIR) in 1997, and his Masters in Public Administration in 1997 at MSU Marawi. He also obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree (Juris Doctor) in 2002 in the same University.
Prior to his coming to MSU General Santos, JD Aragasi had been in various government agencies through which his career burgeoned though he started from the rank. He started as Senior Community Organizer in January 1987(NIA), Administrative Assistant II in January 1991(DXSO), Administrative Officer 1 (DXSO), News Reporter 1 in 1995(DXSO), and Broadcast Program Producer Announcer II in 2001. There was a shift in his career when he was appointed as Assistant Regional Director in DOTC -XII in March 2005, and eventually Regional Director, DICT - Telecommunications Office -XI, Davao City February 24, 2010 - March 01, 2014. He was again appointed as Regional Director for DOST - Information and Communication Technology Office - Field Operations Office, Mindanao Cluster 2 on March 02, 2014, and Director II / Area Project Manager III for DICT - Free Public Wi-fi Project, Eastern Mindanao January 1, 2016 - November 1, 2017. Then an opportunity came to him when he was appointed as Secretary of the Board of Regents for the Mindanao State University System from November 2, 2017, to February 28, 2021. On March 1, 2021, he started working at MSU General Santos as the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance.
The SGS Acting Dean
Dr. Jay D. Buscano, the current MST program coordinator, is designated as the Acting Dean of the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) last February 16, 2023 in view of the sabbatical leave of Dr. Ava Clare Marie O. Robles. Dr. Buscano finished his Ph.D. in Mathematics (with specialization in Operator Theory) at De La Salle University through CHED-FDP II Scholarship. He finished his Master of Science in Mathematics at Notre Dame of Marbel University and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (cum laude) at Mindanao State University-General Santos.Â
At present, Dr. Buscano serves as member of the Board of Directors of Mathematics Teachers Association of the Philippines Tertiary Level (MTAP-TL). He is also a recipient of 4 best paper presentation awards in the different Mathematical Society of the Philippines (MSP) and MTAP-TL conventions. He is a faculty member of MSU-General Santos Mathematics Department. Prior to his designation as the acting dean of SGS, he also served as Director of Extension Services Office (ESO).
