As a non-native teacher of Japanese, when it comes to "teaching culture," I believe my responsibility is to teach students how to become ethnographers in order to observe, notice and analyze the target culture and their own culture. To this end, I designed a lesson that requires students to become active observers of unscripted interactions in Japanese.
