Experiential Module

My experiential module spanned two summers of inquiry and resulted in a project inspired by my growth in the MAFLT program, emphasizes the importance of reflection, and will continue to grow and evolve over time: a blog website called Cultivating Japanese. My initial objective was to revise a Japanese TPRS curriculum using high frequency words from a corpus. However, after expanding my views on instructed second language acquisition in the MAFLT program, this scope felt insufficient. My objectives now for the blog website are the following:

• Share ideas for teaching Japanese with communicative language approaches including TPRS/CI approaches & high frequency language
• Provide a place for other MAFLT Japanese teachers to connect and reflect
• Evolve as necessary
