 Elementary Spanish: Grades 3-5

Welcome!

About Me

Hello! My name is Danielle Perez. I am an Elementary Spanish teacher. I work for the Mason Public Schools. I have classrooms in three elementary school buildings. I teach Spanish to grades 3-5. Each student has Spanish once a week. I see approximately 800 students a week. I am also a wife and a mom. I have been married for 18 years. My husband and I have four children; ages 8, 11, 12, and 17. I have a passion for learning and diversity. I enjoy outdoor activities such as four wheeling, riding horses, camping, and snowmobiling. I am a huge traveler; we go as often as possible.  It's extremely important for my family to get out and explore the world. Check out my website and learn more about me!

Celebrating Dia de Muertos in my Spanish Classroom. We created an ofrenda and shared pan de muerto.

We enjoy visiting family during our yearly voyage to Mexico. We participate in the small town festivities and enjoy visiting the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve.

Diversity rocks! I love to integrate diverse texts in the classroom.

Both of these Ted Talks mean a lot to me. The first one about grit reminds me of how far I have come as a first generation college student and what a struggle it was to get here. I believe grit is one of my strongest characteristics, it took pure grit to hang on to my dreams through tough times and it took grit to attend college while working and raising a family of six. The second Ted Talk is an amazing summary of what I have learned about leadership as the focus of my graduate studies and exemplifies the type of leader that I strive to be.
