Below are the tech tools and resources that you, as a teacher, can use to aid in your teaching of Similar Triangles. There is a brief description as well as an evaluation of each tool so that you can determine the best use of the tool in the classroom.
To access the tool itself, click on the name of the tool and you will be redirected.
Evaluation by Chelsea Tinney
This tool provides learners with two triangles that they must manipulate to determine if the triangles are congruent, similar, or neither. A video is also provided to remind learners what it means for two shapes to be congruent or similar.
Common Core Standards Covered: 8.G.A.2, 8.G.A.4
Evaluation by Chelsea Tinney
This tool has two different activities learners can complete in regards to dilations. In the first activity, learners are given two triangles and their coordinates. Learners must then find the scale factor that the original triangle must be dilated by to become the image. For the second activity, learners are given the original triangle and the scale factor. Based on this information, learners are asked to place the image in the correct location. When learners check their answers, they receive instant feedback with a helpful hint moving forward.
Common Core Standards Covered: 8.G.A.3, HSG.SRT.A.1

This tool provides information and pictures that show the different properties of similar triangles such as corresponding angles, corresponding sides, and how to calculate the length of corresponding sides. This tool also provides ten questions where learners can practice the properties they read about. These questions provide instant feedback with a description of the correct answer so that learners can improve for next time. This tool also provides links to other tools with more information about similar triangles.
Common Core Standards Covered: 8.G.A.3, 8.G.A.4, 8.G.A.5
Evaluation by Chelsea Tinney
This tool allows learners to read about and see pictures of the different properties of similar triangles. Learners are also able to manipulate a triangle and see how it affects a second triangle that is similar.
Common Core Standards Covered: 8.G.A.3, 8.G.A.4
