Below are the tech tools and resources that you, as a teacher, can use to aid in your teaching of other miscellaneous Geometry concepts. There is a brief description as well as an evaluation of each tool so that you can determine the best use of the tool in the classroom.

EngageNY

Evaluation by Chelsea Tinney

EngageNY is a complete math curriculum for prekindergarten through precalculus and advanced topics. This tool includes both teacher and student materials, curriculum maps and pacing, fluency supports, resources for English Language Learners, assessments, and exit tickets. This resource is meant to be used as a full curriculum as much of the content revisits previous content. However, it may be possible for you as the teacher to use bits and pieces as you see fit.

GeoGebra Coordinate Plane

This tool provides access to an interactive coordinate plane in which learners can plot points and use line tools. This tool can be used for a variety of activities depending on your needs.

Tilted Squares

Evaluation by Alyssa Hogan

Learners begin by finding the area of different squares placed on a coordinate plane, they are then asked to find a way to determine the area of a square that is “tilted” on the coordinate plane. Learners need to utilize problem solving skills and their ability to explain and prove their thinking in order to complete this task. This is a good way to enhance learners mathematical thinking skills.

Prodigy

This is a resource in which learners practice mathematics in a game like setting. Prodigy assesses various standards to determine what the learner needs to continue to work on. This resource not only provides a fun interactive way to practice skills that may not be as strong but also includes weekly reports for the teachers so that they know what their learners are working on.
