Overview: The Animal Science Undergraduate Research Student Association (ASURSA) serves to help connect undergraduate students interested in research-focused careers with job opportunities, faculty members, and other like-minded students. Each year, we perform a research project--either an original design or one that branches off of current work in the department--and present our results in the Animal Science Undergraduate Research Forum (ASURF) and University Undergraduate Research and Arts Forum (UURAF).
Students in our club form lasting connections with their peers, deeper connections with faculty, and have increased opportunities to gain a position as a research assistant. We are open to all undergraduate students. Whether you are interested in veterinary school, graduate school, medical school, industry, or are undecided, forming an intimate connection with research and the research process is a valuable experience that carries lasting lessons and skills development--both inside and outside of a laboratory setting.

Overview: Our emphasis is on home aquariums, not industrial or zoological scale, but what could be kept in a home or office and the species you can put in there safely. This organization is a more social club with emphasis on camaraderie and engagement, we are not exactly an activist organization despite engaging in activist causes at times, we're more of a chill hangout centered on common interests.

Overview: We are MSU's only RSO dedicated to appreciating the most abundant group of animals on earth. Insects, spiders, millipedes, scorpions, and others are hated and feared by so many. At Bug Club we help our members learn to appreciate insects and their close relatives through hands-on activities. We handle bugs, do activities like eating bugs, bug bingo, painting with bugs, bug pictionary, and learn about bugs in pop culture, how to take care of pet bugs, and careers in entomology. Our meetings are fun for everyone regardless of knowledge/experience level.
Our members create a safe and kind atmosphere encouraging self-expression. This is the nature of our organization as we attract those who are capable of looking past irrational fears of bugs which are normalized by our society to see the beauty and value in these misunderstood creatures. Most meetings occur at the MSU Bug House where members are surrounded by live and preserved exotic insects and relatives. Our activities provide a way to relax, learn, be creative, and socialize with other kind-hearted students at your own pace.
Bug Club has no commitments, dues, or obligations. Members attend meetings with activities they find interesting and are expected to be respectful of our live insects and other members.

Overview: Welcome to the Conservation Club of MSU. We are a group of friends with a desire to not only share but maintain the beauty of our campus. Our goal is to help conserve the ecosystems that call our school home while simultaneously doing our part to help clean up the campus. We plan to hold various events which reflect our values and that can get the community involved, but it is more than just picking up garbage. We want to find other ways to conserve the biodiversity that calls this school home, maybe hunting invasive plant species, or even fundraising events to support organizations and foundations that share our mission. We want to help maintain the status of our naturally stunning campus, not only so the squirrels will always have a home, but also to make sure that every person has the chance to witness this great campus for themselves.

Overview: Do you enjoy working with kids? How about spending time outdoors? What about volunteering with kids outdoors?
If you said yes, consider joining REACH OUTSIDE! We meet twice a month on Tuesdays at 7:30 pm. We are a registered student organization and nonprofit dedicated to providing opportunities for disadvantaged and underserved youth in the Lansing area to get involved in outdoor activities like rock climbing, skiing, snow tubing, canoeing, and hiking. You do not have to have any experience doing these kinds of outdoor activities to join! Additionally, we want to encourage our participants to set goals, overcome challenges, gain confidence, exercise creativity and connect with positive mentors.
There are so many health benefits to an outdoor and active lifestyle such as increased concentration, boosted mood, and stress relief. However, many kids in East Lansing don't have exposure to the kinds of outdoor sports Michigan has to offer or the necessary means to participate. This could include financial resources, transportation, equipment or an educated instructor to learn from. That is where Reach Outside comes in!
As a club, we work to fundraise, organize, and run these events. This is an amazing opportunity for you to gain LEADERSHIP experience, get VOLUNTEER hours, meet COOL people, and make an IMPACT on the lives of some incredible youth!
We also host member activities throughout the semester including game nights, movie nights, and other social gatherings. Our meetings include a range of speakers and activities that are great for anyone interested in working with youth or in the outdoor industry.
