Here you will find two videos of my teaching. You will see two sessions of 5th grade Spanish. They take Spanish every other day for approximately 30 minutes. In this classroom are students who have had 90 mins/wk of Spanish using Comprehensible Input-based methods like TPRS since 1st grade, along with students who moved to the district in the last year with no Spanish experience, and one student who moved to the district from abroad just a month ago.
The lesson is the first of a MovieTalk unit we call Los Ñus (The Wildebeest). I begin by pre-teaching some vocabulary using Total Physical Response that will be needed for a mini story we will act out the next day. When we finish acting out the story, we will all write the story together, draw it, and then move to the next mini story or activity that gets the students closer to being able to describe the following embedded video on their own. They usually enjoy the Ñus story and eventually retell it to a family member as homework.
