I had always hoped that learning a language would make my students more aware, empathetic, and capable in cross-cultural interactions at home and abroad.
Using the concept of Intercultural Communicative Competence, we can build the attitudes, skills, and knowledge needed for this much more deliberately in the TPRS/CI classroom.
With this project, I demonstrate how one might take a comprehension-based reader rich with cultural information and use it to create activities that broaden students' intercultural communication skills. Below is a fully editable and downloadable teacher's guide along with a description and rationale for teaching Intercultural skills.
I am passionate about materials design and plan to continue to seek opportunities to create for students.
