The following indicators were selected through our ranking process. Below, they are displayed in order of the Good Food Charter goal with which they are aligned. To learn more about this process, check out our Shared Measurement page.
(G1) # of direct to consumer outlets accepting food assistance in Michigan
(G1) # of individual local food (policy) councils (and other regional/statewide advocacy initiatives) working on specific policy issues
(G2) $ State investment in grants (Value Added & Regional Food Systems Grants; Food & Agriculture Investment Fund; Rural Development Fund Grants; Specialty Crop Block Grant
(G2) $ Federal investment in local/regional food system grants; e.g. Local Agriculture Market Program (LAMP); Rural Development Program; The Regional Food Systems Partnership (RFSP)
(G4) # children served school meals with local/regional food
(G4) # of & $$ invested in Produce Prescription Programs in Michigan
(G4) % of Michigan Hospitals, and other institutions that have a local food procurement goals/commitments

These indicators requires more of a broad overview analysis before selecting a year-over-year indicator. Further development of research questions will be required. Please get in touch with Lindsey Scalera if you are interested in partnering with us on better understanding these priority issues.
(G3) Landscape analysis of types of career programs/policies that support youth & young adults; people in and coming out of incarceration; migrant families; etc. being pushed forward in the state and what strategies are address inequities (define what these are) - getting at equity
(G2) Qualitative Analysis of Land Access Strategies (Succession planning, land-transfer incentives, land use policies, land banks,etc.)
(G5) Michigan Livestock laws related to water protection and MI aquaculture
(G5) Ag conservation easements & other such programs (incentizing sustainable ag practices)
These indicators did not meet our criteria in our final ranking process but still have value for tracking progress on Charter Goals through storytelling initiatives. In the future, we may seek to include the data related to these indicators, but in the meantime, please get in touch with Lindsey Scalera if you'd like to partner with us on sharing or highlighting stories relating to these indicators.
