My first language is English and my second language is Spanish. I starting learning Spanish while in elementary school. From there, I took four years of Spanish in high school. During my senior year in high school, I traveled to Mérida, México for the first time and was immersed in the language and culture for a month. In college, I traveled and studied in Mérida again for a month, in Costa Rica for a month, and in Spain for 5 months. After college, I had the opportunity to live and intern in Guatemala City, Guatemala for a year. It was in Spain and in Guatemala that my speaking abilities formed and upon return from Guatemala in 2016, I took the OPI and received the Advanced Low rating. Since then, I have continued to practice my speaking skills while at school, and I have the privilege to speak Spanish often at home, because my wonderful husband Walter is from Honduras! :)
