Warrior’s media presence is very involved when it comes to promoting their product. Although, on many occasions, such as in these videos, what warriors are and who they represent gets lost in translation. Many Warrior’s fans are not offended by the vast majority of people misrepresenting them or its community, but there are some who, like myself, value the authenticity of this very powerful community of people who have gathered online from around the world to share our love of the books that Erin Hunter has so proudly crafted over the years, and would like that people better understand the subject. Therefore, I’ve discovered through this case study that although Erin Hunter has created a large media presence, and although the fanbase activity participates in media such as Warriors online forums, warriors Wiki, and especially YouTube videos, there is one fundamental explanation for the mainstream culture that’s missing— what is warriors anyway and why do many readers enjoy these books? This is a call to arm to all those such fans, explain in the comment section why indeed you love warriors so much and what makes it special, not the semantics of names or the warrior’s culture that one unfamiliar with the series may not understand, but rather the symbols and ideas you love about warriors. That being said, I love warriors for its passionate expression of life, love, and death itself, all interwoven in an endless array of stories told in the perspective of many characters in a way that those character’s pain becomes your own, as well as their joy, their victories, their setbacks and tribulations, so when the narrator says: so and so felt and not simply dictating what that character did, but everything about why they did it, and the consequences of doing so, one cannot help but feel compassion and empathy for those characters.
These are stories about life itself, told in the perspective of cats, but cat lover or not these books embody all that life is—these characters have culture, laws, religion, war, conflict, love, enemies, deceit, etc. all fundamental to the novels. I’m not saying the books are perfect by any means, but the originality of these books deserves recognition in its own right. And if still you are confused as to what makes warriors so great, read in the comments of other Warriors fans who’ve read the painful and sobering story of Yellowfang’s Secret,1 who have witnessed the cold and hunger these warriors experienced in the Dawn of the Clans2, the jealousy of Ashfur and the what it means to be the power of three3. In short, fans of all kinds come to celebrate the inspiring nature that these books give, and the powerful ideas with which the stories at their roots represent. And without further ado, may Starclan light your path4.
