View the video which gives directions for the work you will be covering this week. It directs you look at the page for Week 4 where you will find an example of a similar assignment. In Week 4 you will complete a task relating to the model but might like to simply look at it so that you understand what the task is asking of you.
TASK 1:
The intention was that we would do this in class with books I bought specifically for that purpose. I approached the publisher about making copies but haven't heard back. So we will do a similar activity. Go to the button below and choose a couple of images to colour. download them. Before colouring them in either on your computer or on paper, locate a story from the Dreamtime that your pictures could easily illustrate. Read the story and reflect on it before colouring. If you choose to use contemporary colours be prepared to explain your reasoning . Take a screen capture of both and annotate your colouring, explaining how your work helps to tell the story and what you believe to be the purpose of the story .
You have experienced many different sorts of text in this unit and it is important to analyse them as well as appreciate the importance of each in a belief system that shared its beliefs, customs and rituals through word of mouth, art, song and dance.
TASK 3:
Choose one of the texts you have explored, read or viewed and answer the questions in the image below. Make sure that you provide the title and author you are analysing and put your sentence long responses beneath headings for each world of the text.
CHALLENGE/MINDFULNESS ACTIVITY
You may like to complete this online puzzle as a mindfulness activity, while your thoughts about your own memorial begin to become clearer. Look at the way the animals have been depicted. What characteristics are implied in each painting.
You are going to spend most of your lessons this week exploring the many different forms of texts and will choose one to share with the class on Conversations in Teams. Be prepared to answer the questions posed on the image above (three worlds of the text), within your presentation. You may find that this week helps you to solidify your idea for your memorial design.
TASK 4:
View the Gurrumul and Paul Kelly video and then spend a minuteor two thinking about the purpose of their collaboration. In what way might you be able to embody their intention in your daily life? Try to also consider why it might be important. Your thoughts can be recorded on the reflection for the week form below.
