I believe in a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable to learn. I think it's important to build a classroom community where students enjoy working with each other and learn from each other. In order to have a classroom conducive to this learning environment, the students have 5 rules to follow: Follow directions quickly, Raise your hand for permission to speak, Raise your hand for permission to leave your seat, Make smart choices, and Keep your dear teacher happy. When students follow these rules and work hard, they are recognized in a positive manner. This may include clipping up on our classroom clipchart or getting Scott Bucks (a school wide incentive where students earn Scott Bucks to trade for prizes). They may also receive praise, stickers/treats, extra privileges/free time, or a positive note/phone call home.
Fair and logical consequences will occur if a student does not follow the rules. To help the children remember to make the right choices, we have a classroom clipchart.
