Behind the Wheel Instructor; Summer Classroom Teacher; Online Classroom Teacher
Mr. Gudgel has been doing behind the wheel training in the Bismarck/Mandan community since 2017, and has driven with hundreds of student drivers. He holds a bachelor's degree in music education and a concentration in driver's education and traffic safety (2017) and completed a master's degree in educational leadership (2021). In 2023 he became the driver's education coordinator for Mandan High School. During the school year, Mr. Gudgel teaches choir at Mandan Middle School, directs the MMS Show Choir, and is the head Boy's Golf coach at MHS. If you have any questions, please reach out! Behind the Wheel Instructor
Mr. Johnson has been a Drivers Education Teacher in Mandan Public Schools since the year 1991. Tom taught for 34 years at the Mandan Middle School. He was a Mathematics Instructor, as well as Football and Track and Field Coach. Mr. Johnson retired from teaching and coaching from Mandan Public Schools in 2016. He is at present a Drivers Education Instructor, and a Volunteer Varsity Football and Track and Field Coach for Mandan High School.

Mr. Anderson has been a Driver’s Education instructor for 30 years and counting. After teaching for 41 years, the last 23 at Mandan Middle School, he has retired from classroom teaching and now substitutes and officiates football and basketball. Presently he is fulfilling his dream of raising cattle.
Summer Classroom & Behind the Wheel Instructor
Mr. Vander Wal has been teaching in Mandan since 2019 and is currently the Physical Education teacher at Mary Stark Elementary and was the 2024 Physical Education Teacher of the year (NDSHAPE). In addition to his teaching duties he also coaches a variety of activities at the secondary level. Mr. Vander Wal has been teaching driver's education since 2025

Miss Weiand has been driving with students in our community since 2021. She holds a bachelor's degree in exercise science, minor in character in leadership from University of Jamestown, a master's in special education from University of North Dakota, and a concentration in driver's education and traffic safety from Minot State University.
