Career Development

School counselors provide resources and opportunities that help students explore their strengths and interests as well as career fields that align with these attributes. Our mission is to create an atmosphere that encourages students to develop and work toward goals during critical years of middle school when they are also beginning to reflect on their own paths. 

This is achieved through:

• Collaboration with elective teachers on pathway planning and student schedules

• Providing career-readiness lessons in classrooms and for individuals upon request

• Utilizing inventories and assessments to assist exploring of options and making of decisions

• Providing and advocating for all students’ college and career awareness through exploration and postsecondary planning and decision-making

• Collecting data and identifying gaps in college and career access for students in our population

• Working with teachers to integrate career education learning in the classroom lessons
