Full Course Description:
A progressively intense program teaching classical ballet, mainly using Vaganova and Cecchetti methods. Ballet is the foundation of all dance, developing fundamental techniques applicable to any style. Ballet classes are highly recommended for any Level II class and above. Pointe work will be introduced as students are ready with teacher approval. Ballet shoes and proper dance attire are required. Students must complete one level before moving to the next.

Dancers move through levels of proficiency in Intermediate–Full Bronze American and International style Latin, Swing, and Ballroom dance patterns with increasingly technical instruction for performance and competition applications. The purpose of this course is to expose students to “street dancing.” Students study the history of and cultural implications of a wide array of hip hop dance styles. Instruction includes a variety of hip-hop techniques and performance styles, as well as the origins of the movement. Over time, students begin to develop their own style through choreographic projects. Shoes and proper dance attire are required. Students must complete one level before moving to the next.

Students learn about modern dance in its cultural and historical contexts through research and physical experiences, explore exemplary modern dance founders, works, and artists, employ dance as a healthy life skill, and use modern dance terminology to develop improvisation and choreographic skills. The Pre-Professional Intensive Technique class is designed to challenge the advanced dancer, with the goal of preparing students for a career in dance or a college dance program. Rooted in ballet and modern, with additional focus on jazz skills and progressions (such as leaps and turns), along with various approaches to dance conditioning, this course offers intense training in a range of styles at a very advanced level. Shoes and proper dance attire are required.
