The Covid-19 vaccine for the 5 to 11 year old age group was approved on November 2. Covid-19 has killed thousands of people, and the vaccine has been proven to help a lot against the viruses. There is a vaccine for everyone over 12, but what about all those kids under 12. Well, it just came out a few days ago, and is proven to be 90.7% effective to COVID-19 for kids ages 5-11. MS447 even administered the shot on November 12!
Many kids had different opinions about the vaccine. Like Lorenzo, who thinks it is a good idea to get vaccinated because most people are. He said, "I think it is a good idea because we have vaccinated most people.” Another kid wanted to get vaccinated to protect herself, but her parents don’t think it is safe. She said “I want to get it but my mom doesn't want me to get it because she thinks it has harmful ingredients.” Shane wants to get the vaccine so they can go somewhere during the holidays. Shane said “I will get it on Friday so I can go to Kansas for Christmas!” Many people had different responses about getting the vaccine, some kids wanted to get it but they didn’t, others wanted to get it to be safe and others for advantages.
I asked them what they think will change in their life after they get the vaccine. Lorenzo thinks that he will be able to do more things. This is what he said,“ I will be a lot safer, I will take my mask off more and I will feel more comfortable.” Another kid said, "I think I will be more protected and immune to it (Covid-19).” Chlorite thinks that she will be safer and will have morAs of December 8, 2021, our school is 75 percent vaccinated against the Coronavirus with at least their first dose! Pfizer has conducted clinical trials with around 3,000 students to ensure the vaccines safety. MS447 even administered the shot on November 12 and on December 8. This made it possible for the current sixth graders and above to get vaccinated. Due to the new DOE mandate every DOE employee needs to be vaccinated so 100 percent of school staff are vaccinated.

Bad information is spreading about the vaccines, with the amount of information it can be hard to know what to believe. This has been a growing concern ever since vaccines came out. Although common belief is common belief, the CDC states that the Covid-19 vaccine does not cause or create new variants.The CDC Is urging people to get vaccinated or get their booster because of the new variant named Omicron.
Omicron is particularly worrisome because it has so many mutations compared to delta and has spread very fast through the world.
What is the Covid 19 vaccine? The Covid vaccine is a mRNA vaccine. That is a vaccine that teaches our bodies how to make a protein that triggers an immune response against sickness like Covid. In simple terms, the vaccine teaches your body how to protect itself against sickness(Covid).
So many students think that they will be safer and be able to take their mask off more. Many students have different opinions about the vaccine, some wanted to get it and others didn't.
