Schools all across the world are adjusting to online learning. I think most people agree that it hasn’t been easy. At all. Things change every day which makes it sort of impossible to get completely settled. We’ve all just had to take it one day at a time.
Zoombombing is the act of coming uninvited to a zoom meeting and posting on the chat/saying/ rude or offensive things. There have been several reports of child pornography or videos of children doing inappropriate things relating to sexual action. There have also been racial slurs and xenophobic behavior. To deal with this most schools have stopped using zoom altogether and have switched to google meet. For people or groups in which they do not want to stop using zoom here are a few precautions you can take, create a unique ID, add a waiting room, and disable screen sharing.
Spring Break has sadly been cancelled by Governor Cuomo because he believes that public schools can be very important to keeping kids engaged at home. Originally, it was just one week of Spring Break that was cancelled and Thursday the 9th and Friday the 10th were days off. But, Spring Break was officially, completely cancelled on the 5th of April.
The DOE recently cancelled regular school for the rest of the school year. So, we’ll all be stuck doing online learning for the rest of the year! Fun, right? Some people aren’t even sure that school will return to normal next school year either! It’s really a game of touch and go right now.
In conclusion, things are changing every day and it’s hard to be caught up on all of it! If you’re feeling overwhelmed maybe try asking your parents or older family members to give you a quick update based on what they know. You can also rely on MS447 staff and the Wolf Press to help you out!
