Camp Bernie, Camp Bernie! Well, this trip was certainly one to remember. The story starts on the bus ride there! The ride was super slow for some people, but it went by fast for others. One cool feature about the bus was that it had a place to charge phones! Everyone stayed clear of the bathrooms though, since the bathroom doors wouldn’t stay shut.
The bus finally arrived, and everyone hopped off of the bus eagerly, excited to see the cabins. When the buses arrived the campers were given little slips of paper with our bunks and other info on it, so everyone knew by the signs where to go.
Shortly after everyone got to the cabins, the campers were called to the introduction in the middle of the camp by the camp directors. The introduction talked about the rules at the camp. Everyone was bubbly in their seats awaiting their activities.
As soon as it was time to have lunch, two people from each group went to lunch early to bring the drinks out and be the “waiter.” Lunch was really good, it was so much better than other camp food.
After lunch the activity was team building! Some of the activities included racing your item on nets before the other team got there and so much more! There was also an obstacle course at the camp. The course was vertical, and the bottom of the course was a big net and five big logs, and then a rock wall, tires, or hand grips. Most people only made it up to the logs, but some made it to the top.
Then everyone got to have free time! Students hung out in their cabins or stayed outside, though most people stayed inside because of the cold weather.
Some people were preparing for the karaoke later that night. After an hour, it was dinner - spaghetti and meatballs! It was really good and after that there was more free time! Then it was time for karaoke!
“ It was very stressful, but I would want to do it again,” said Layson from 606 who sang “ My Way.” By Frank Sinatra.
This is where the trip gets a twist of events. “The police woke us up, and we all rushed to the main room of our cabin. Then we saw the police, but our teachers told us to go back to bed. At around 11:30 PM the police left,” according to Mila Antonios, 606.
“Teachers took our phones and checked to see who called the police, but they never found out,” according to an anonymous source.
Who called the police? Nobody will ever know, but everyone was talking about it the next morning over French toast, bacon, eggs, and an assorted cereal bar.
Then it was morning activities, and people either did the zipline or giant swing. In the giant swing someone would climb up a ladder then be attached to a bungee cord to be held up, and a pull team would haul them. Once the person wanted to stop, they would pull a rope to release them from the bungee cords and they would swing through the air, and it was really fun. It felt like flying!
Afterwards, the bags were packed up, and it was lunchtime. Then sadly it was time to leave. It was a really fun trip, and the 6th graders next year are going to have a great experience!
