This new Disney hit song from Encanto, one of the new Disney movies as of December 14th, climbed up the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and even tops “Let It Go” a Disney favorite. This Lin Manuel Miranda hit has us wondering what will come next, and will it be even better? How do we understand why it’s so popular?
According to Alice, a sixth grader, she thinks the song is catchy “because there are a bunch of different people in it, and it's kind of like most Disney songs. It has a good beat.”
Alex Dawes responded saying, “I uh, like the chorus, and the way it's like, the beat."
Amelie Miller’s favorite song from Encanto is “We Don't Talk About Bruno” which is the song that everyone is talking about.
Matteo thought it was catchy "because it's funny, and has a good beat and rhythm.”
Lots of people think that the beat and tune is part of what's catchy, and research revealed that every time a different person starts singing, the beat immediately changes. This could be why, or it might not be, there are many guesses, but not many answers. That still leaves us wondering why it's so catchy? Why did it top "Let It Go"? Why does it have us replaying the song over and over? Not all middle schoolers love the song, but it does have a catchy rhythm that no one can argue with.
