The Umbrella Academy (2018-)

One day in 1989, 43 children from around the world were born, even though none of the women were pregnant earlier that day. Eccentric billionaire and scientist Sir. Reginal Hargreeves is immediately fascinated by this and sets out to get ahold of as many as he can. He gets his hands on seven of them. These children develop supernatural powers, and form a team that is determined to save the world. The show starts with the children- now adults- reuniting at Reginald Hargreeves funeral. With the surprising return of their missing brother they are sent on a new - and possible final - mission. Save the world before the apocalypse. And they have a couple days. 

Community

When a study group of misfits is thrown together, they become unlikely friends. This show follows them through their journey at Greendale, a community college, as they try to graduate. This show is filled with delightfully intelligent jokes, complicated characters, and wonderfully meta episodes. The show, now living on Netflix, has been through a lot to get where it is today. It’s managed to become an extremely popular show, and one that is fun and rewatchable.

The End of the F***ing World

This delightfully dark comedy manages to have both hilarious scenes and dialogue and create wonderful themes of friendship and consent. This show follows James and Alyssa as they run away from home together. Alyssa will do anything to get away from her mother and her new terrible step-father. James- James thinks he’s a psychopath. Alyssa doesn’t completely trust James, but has nowhere else to turn. James goes with Alyssa to accomplish his latest mission - killing a person. As they continue on their eventful journey they grow closer, getting entangled in a friendship- and a murder. I highly recommend this show, but it does contain some very dark and upsetting themes, so watch with caution. 

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist

Zoey is given powers one day while an earthquake happens during an MRI. She can hear people singing music - but no one else can. This music reflects the way they are feeling and gives Zoey a new look into how the people around her are feeling. She uses this power to help her friends and family. This show is a fun musical TV show, but is also an emotional show that will have you invested throughout the entire show. Full of fun plot twists, humor, and love triangles this show is a fun show to watch by yourself or with your family. The second season is still being streamed on TV.
