As you all know, Covid had an impact on all of us. Maybe you lost a family member, maybe your favorite restaurant closed, or your go to movie theater had to close. Even before Covid If you wanted to watch something you usually didn’t go looking for movie tickets, you just went to Disney+, Hulu or Netflix. But once Covid took place it was impossible to get tickets to any of the movie theaters. All movies got suspended and you had to stream Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu and Disney plus to name a few if you really wanted to watch a new film. Some of you might have missed the collective gasp of a plot twist, the sobs of a dramatic death, or the laughter of a joke. These students share the things they love the most about going to the movies.
Eva Fischer, an 8th grader said that the thing she loved the most about movie theaters is the food “It’s the only place I can get way too much butter!”
Food isn’t the only thing to be missed. Alice Finn-Beers, a 6th grader, said that she missed empty theaters. “ When it’s really empty you can talk with your friends. It’s also an experience.”
Speaking of theaters, Arianah McCable who’s in 6th grade, said that she loves the movie theaters so much because “the lights are dimmed which is something you can't do at home and the screen is so much bigger and up in your face that there is just more drama. Also I love the reclining chairs!”
Whether you love extra butter or the dark room, you can get to theaters like:
The Alamo Drafthouse, serves food, popcorn, and has recliner chairs in the first row. Found on 445 Albee Square in Brooklyn
Cobble hill Cinema. Right by a Chocolate Room on court street so once your done with the movie you can just hop right in and get an ice cream sundae
Regal, right below a Starbucks and Right next to a Barnes & Noble
