Dream’s Face Reveal Explained

On October 2, 2022, popular Minecraft content creator, Dream, made YouTube history with his face reveal that shocked thousands of fans.  Most MS447 students probably know Dreamwastaken, mostly known as Dream, is a YouTuber and Twitch Streamer, primarily known for his Minecraft content. Amid the pandemic, his videos grasped the hearts of others while they dozed off in boredom, and until the big reveal. 

Dream's face remained a mystery to his friends and fans. Some fans even resorted to believing that people such as Froy Gutierrez were Dream. He hid his face behind a smiley face, which became an iconic part of the YouTuber’s branding, establishing some mystique around his internet personality. Turning to the present day, after long years of waiting and begging the streamer to reveal their face, fans watched as their wish finally came true.

Nevertheless, there are always two sides to a story, and fans weren't the only ones who tuned in. Shortly after the premiere of the face reveal, along with the hashtag #dreamfacereveal trended on Twitter, “antis” had started another named #HESUGLY, a tag used to slander the influencer's face, comparing him with characters such as Chucky and Lord Farquaad from Shrek.

A lot of people had high expectations of how Dream would look, some even created fanart off of his descriptions, but some were taken back to find they were off by a longshot. 

  “He’s a good content creator but he’s not the best looking. I feel bad for his subscribers.” Carlos, from 703 responded. 

Following the face reveal, a couple of his fans shared positive and negative astonishment, some even agreeing with the “antis” who were slandering him. Yet the YouTuber responded with his carelessness of other people's opinions, and they backed him up as well. 

Dream’s face reveal was the tip of the iceberg, a welcoming for other faceless streamers, like Ranboo and Corpse Husband, to be brave and present their face to the internet despite their differences. Dream‘s face reveal made internet history, but what's the point of the mask now?
