Chromebooks should be handled with care at all times. Following are guidelines for proper use:
It is recommended that students obtain a protective cover or case, according to their own taste. Padded zipper cases are better and will more likely accommodate any make/model of chromebook if/when the district issues a replacement.
Never mar or deface the Chromebook by scratching it, drawing on it, or changing its look or integrity in any way.
Do NOT touch the screen on your Chromebook with your finger or any other implement.
Never exert pressure on the Chromebook, which could break the screen. For example, be careful not to throw or lean on your backpack when the device is inside it.
When carrying the Chromebook, make sure it is closed and that you cradle the hinge side in your hand as you would a book.
Be sure to always charge your Chromebook overnight, using the AC adapter issued to you by the district.
It is recommended that you leave your AC adapter at home for the duration of the loan period. Carrying it with you could increase the risk of loss or theft. There are provisions in school for you to charge your device, if necessary.
Do not allow others to use your device, since you are ultimately responsible for it.
Be gentle when plugging and unplugging the charging cord, a flash drive, or any other peripheral. Yanking things out, especially at an angle, can damage the port and render the whole device unusable.
Do not place your Chromebook in a precarious position in order to avoid it falling, or having something fall on it.
Refrain from eating and drinking in the vicinity of your Chromebook.
IF YOU CAN'T ACCESS YOUR CHROMEBOOK, OR IF IT SHOULD SUSTAIN DAMAGE OR LOSE FUNCTIONALITY FOR ANY REASON, REPORT THE ISSUE TO THE TECH OFFICE IN THE MEDIA CENTER WITHIN 24 HOURS.
