Minnie Elliott

Hello Toreadors!  My name is Minnie and I'm an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist Appilcant under the supervision of Branham Sanborn, MA, LMFT.  It’s my pleasure working as the mental health therapist at Ord Terrace Elementary School.

People come to therapy for a wide variety of reasons; anxiety, PTSD, stress, depression, and relationship problems to name a few. It’s my job to with you to help find balance in life as we examine these difficult situations together. I have explored many different treatment techniques while a graduate student at Brandman University and later during my practical work as an intern. I don’t believe there is a “one size fits all” approach to therapy, so I tend to pull from several different theoretical orientations and work with you to determine what works best. I have provided therapy for people of all ages and backgrounds and have worked more extensively with children and adults who may be struggling with life transitions and anxiety.

I grew up in North Carolina and have spent the last 5 years in Monterey where I’ve worked at the YMCA for the Monterey Peninsula, the Community Foundation for Monterey County, and now as a part of the Ord Terrace family. I also practice Equine Assisted Psychotherapy in Carmel Valley, CA with the nonprofit organization, The Equine Healing Collaborative where I work with children and adults.

I enjoy being a therapist and have worked with a wide variety of people from all ages and ethnic backgrounds. I also enjoy being creative in my counseling strategies and will often incorporate art, movement, humor, music and role play into my sessions.

I have struggled with anxiety and depression at different times in my own life and believe that these difficult situations have given me confidence and a level of depth that helps me work with people who may be going through something similar.

Life is complicated. We do our best . Sometimes we need help. I consider it an honor to hold a space for my clients to process whatever challenges they may be facing.
