Director's Note for Check Please
As we come to the end of this production, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible work our students have done to bring Check Please to life. From the very first rehearsal to this final performance, I have been so impressed by their hard work, dedication, and, most importantly, their sense of humor. These students have truly embraced their characters and have made me laugh day after day. It has been an absolute joy to watch them grow, explore, and shine on stage.
I would also like to extend my deepest gratitude to a few individuals who have made this production possible. First, a huge thank you to Larry Zuaro for all his invaluable assistance throughout the entire process. Larry’s dedication, guidance, and support have been instrumental in bringing this production together, and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work alongside him.
I’d also like to express my heartfelt thanks to Bonnie Brady for her unwavering support of our vision, and to Mike Looney for his hard work in printing our posters, tickets, and assisting with countless other tasks. Kristine Fraser, thank you for organizing the posters that brought so much vibrancy to our promotional efforts. A special thank you to Consuelo Carroll for her efforts in reaching out to the community through social media, ensuring that the word about our production spread far and wide.
To all the parents—thank you for your continuous support of your children in the arts. Your encouragement and dedication are truly appreciated. And, of course, a special shout-out to my husband, who works behind the scenes, taking care of the little things that make a big difference in bringing a production like this to life. Your support means the world to me.
When selecting a play for this fall, I wanted something that would allow the actors to explore many different roles while having fun. Check Please is the perfect fit, a comedy that challenges our students to step outside their comfort zones and embrace the joy of storytelling. I hope you, the audience, enjoy the show as much as we’ve enjoyed bringing it to you, and I hope you find yourselves laughing along the way.
Thank you all for supporting this production. It has been a wonderful experience, and I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together.
