When Nina enters her first air guitar competition, she thinks winning will be easy. But as she befriends a group of charismatic nerds all committed to becoming the next champion, she discovers that there's more to this art form than playing pretend; it's about finding yourself in your favorite songs, and performing with raw joy. Will Nina be able to let go and set herself free onstage? Following her mission to shred or be shredded, Airness is an exuberant reminder that everything we need to rock is already inside us. A comedy about competition, completion, and finding the airness inside yourself.
During last year's play, Puffs, I was backstage as prop manager. I made sure everyone was on track and organized as the rest of the cast was working hard on stage to bring an amazing performance to life. I loved working behind the scenes, but my stage fright was so bad I had to be dragged out to bow. This year I planned to do the same thing, but then I saw the show, for 2022, was going to be "Airness", an air guitar competition. I was struck and torn, and had no idea what to do. I had always been interested in guitar and music, exposed to the rock genre my entire life. Should I do what I did last year? Or, finally punch my stage fright in the face and get up on stage? Eve and Yami (my dear friends) my amazing mom and dad, and Mrs. Reynolds' raidiating energy talked me into auditioning. So I did. And I got the part that resonated with me as I read the script; The Nina.I am so pumped to bring this character to stage, along with everyone else that are working so incredibly hard. So greatful to be rocking out with you guys 🤘.
Hi I'm Brendan and I'm in 8th grade and this is my first year in theater club and so far its been fun staying after and learning the scenes with the other members. Along with theater I'm also in AV club and Art Club. Out of school I don't really do much but I do like hanging out with my friends and my family. So yeah that's mostly everything about me, Hope you enjoy the show!
This is Eve's 8th show with the BFTC, her first being the Wizard of Oz when she was in 3rd grade. She is currently in the 10th grade here at MMHS and has been attending Mashpee her whole life. In her free time she enjoys skiing, singing, acting, playing the French Horn, and spending time with her friends, family, and dog, Myrtle. She had never come across air guitar until this show was announced. She would like to thank Mrs. Reynolds for all her fabulous work helping the cast pull together this show in a little bit over a month and a half. Lastly, she would like to thank her friends and family for their support. She hopes you will enjoy the show and rock out with us.
This is Esme's first official play and school year at the Mashpee Middle High School. Her previous performances include those at the Cotuit Center for the Arts Summer Theater's Lab; "Wizard of Cod" in 2018, "Silence of the Clams" in 2021, and "Clamalot" in 2022. Besides her love to drink Sprite, she runs, plays tennis, does robotics, and plays the saxophone. Esme is enjoying her first year at the BFTC and is excited for future performances.
Piper Milde is a Junior this year, and this is her second play production with thew BFTC. In the past, she played various roles in the 2022 production of "Puffs", BFTC's 2018 production of "The Little Mermaid" as an ensemble character, before taking on a lead role in the Cotuit Center for the Arts' Summer Theater Lab's "The Wizard of Cod" the same year. She also participates in sports all year, namely cross country and tennis, of which she is co-captain to both.
Hello! I have always liked the idea of being in some sort of production like this but never had the courage to go for it until this year. I have enjoyed getting to know the whole cast and laughing every practice as we messed around with our characters and the dynamics everyone had. In doing this I have had to step out of my comfort zone and I am beyond grateful for that push. Outside of the play I am also a part of Cross Country, Track & Field, NHS, and Band which have all been big portions of my life and I would like to make a quick shout out to Coach Ouimet for being the #GOAT. Finally, to end this very stressful little bio I want to thank my family, my brother Dayo the Mayo (Daniel), my cat Sebastian, and my wonderful teachers.
Hello, my name is Jack Thompson. I am somewhat new to acting but I have always had a passion for fine arts and literature. I’m recent to acting so I’m learning the basics of expressing myself in theater, but I’m willing to try my best. I have done ballet and dance for six years of my life, just like others who have done theater. Last year I played numerous fun roles in the BFTC 2022 production of "Puffs".
In her lifetime Madison has always yearned to be a part of the theater universe, but has never been able to make it...UNTIL NOW. Besides the fact that this is incredibly dramatic, she was very excited to be a part of this play even though she isn't a main character. Setting Airness aside, Maddie also does robotics, student council, and winter track. And at home she watches amazing movies/reads.
Currently, I am involved with the theatre department at school, I am responsible for all booth activities that take place within the auditorium, and make sure that all small and large scale events run smoothly. I also run all large scale events in general like livestreams and large scale media productions. My past experiences are vast, I have done multiple shows with Cotuit Center For The Arts. My position there was followspot operator. I also worked in close conjunction with the lighting team and directors of the shows. My latest adventure in the theatre world was Oliver Jr. which was hosted by Drama Fun at Mashpee High. I was the lighting designer/technical support for the show. I am so excited to be apart of this show and give it my all lighting and technical wise!
Hi I’m Marcus. I’m involved in the A/V club here at Mashpee as well as yearbook club. I am also the founder of a small business call Embr marketing. I love the theater and love the behind the scenes work it takes to put on a performance.
Hi I’m Lilly. I really love theater. I worked on the show “Puffs” last year. I mainly do the lighting for performances.
Hello I'm Brooke, I got into theatre last year and helped out with the talent show. I focus mainly on lighting but can do other jobs such as audio or backstage if needed.
