Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! We hope you have had a great summer! The Rohwer staff is looking forward to a wonderful school year!!!
We have some shifts in our grade level teams for this year:

2nd grade - Mrs. Heusel, Mrs. Krobot, Mrs. Purcell
3rd grade - Mrs. Amend, Ms. Sobota, Mrs. Vandenberg
4th grade - Ms. Anderson, Mrs. Hunke, Mrs. Muller
5th grade - Mrs. Loberg, Mrs. Nash, Mr. Nelson, Mrs. Palmesano
Teacher assignments are based on many factors including academic need, a blending of students, and gender balance. Following these considerations, placement is assigned. We have great teachers, supportive parents, and super kids. Please know much thought has been given to the placement of each child. Classroom teachers will be emailing families with your child's classroom placement on Monday, August 5th.
The school building will be open for families on Tuesday, August 6th from 5:00 - 6:30 pm. Families can visit their child's classroom and meet the teacher. School supplies can also be dropped off during this time. There will be food trucks from 5:00 - 7:00 pm and families can eat in the gymnasium. The school building and classrooms will not open until 5:00 for families to visit. Please see the flyer below for more information.

All existing Rohwer families must update their student registration information every school year. If you have not updated your information for the 2024-2025 school year, please click on the link below and complete the Existing Family Registration. Registration must be completed before students start school. We will not be able to notify students of their homeroom teacher until this is completed as well. https://www.mpsomaha.org/departments/student-services/registration-enrollment
School hours are 8:30 - 3:30 on M, T, Th, F and 8:30 - 2:30 on W.
Morning supervision begins at 8:15. The tardy bell rings at 8:30. Students arriving after the tardy bell rings will need to enter the school through the front doors and check in at the office.
Afternoon supervision is from 3:30 - 3:40 on M, T, Th, F and 2:30 - 2:40 on W . Please make sure your student(s) is picked up by 3:40 pm (2:40 pm - W).
The first day of school is Thursday, August 8th. We ask that you drop your child(ren) off between 8:15-8:30. Kindergarten students will line up outside the building with their classroom teacher. Kindergarten teachers will be holding up a sign. 1st - 5th grade students will enter the building independently and walk to their classroom. Staff members will be available inside the building to help students find their classrooms. We will have families remain outdoors.
Parents/Guardians may drop off or walk their child to the front door on the first day of school to his/her assigned area outside of the school building. (See traffic protocol information attachments below.)
Staff members will be on duty inside and outside the building to guide students to their classroom.
For the 2024-2025 school year, breakfast and lunch is available through a parent-pay option. A meal consists of five (5) meal components: protein, grain, fruit, vegetable and milk. Breakfast price is $1.60, Lunch price is $3.15, and Milk a la carte will be $.55. If your child will be eating breakfast at school, we ask they please arrive between 8:15 - 8:20 so they can eat breakfast and start the school day on time at 8:30.
Every other Friday, you will receive an email with reminders about upcoming events and/or a link to our school newsletter, The Rohwer Flyer. Please take time to read through this newsletter as it contains important information about school-wide happenings. Classroom teachers will also communicate with you in various ways such as electronic or paper newsletters, classroom Facebook pages, email or the SeeSaw app.
Safety is always a concern for us - it's our #1 rule! We take special care during peak times in the morning and afternoon to ensure everyone's safety. Please take time to read the information note about morning and afternoon protocols. We also ask that you follow the listed safety guidelines whenever children are being dropped off or picked up at school.
Use your family's assigned zone for dropping off and picking up children whenever possible. Staff members will be monitoring all areas for safety.
Observe all posted signage related to traffic, specifically during drop off/pick up time by turning right onto "F" Street when exiting the parking lot.
Always remain in your car when dropping off/picking up your child(ren) along the curbs. Staff members will be available to assist your children in exiting or entering a vehicle.
Children should exit/enter cars through the curbside door only.

First Day of School Kindergarten Line Up Location
(All other grade levels will enter the building through either the front doors or lower level doors.)
Kindergarten students and siblings, daycare vans, Bay Wood, Option Enrollment students, Students from Mrs. Gaston & Mrs. Timm's classes
Drop off/Pick up before the crosswalk
Students MUST enter/exit the car on the passenger side.
Use crosswalk at ALL times.
Cars need to continue to move up to the crosswalk.
Right turn only to exit on F St during pick up/drop off times.
Do not get out of your vehicle in the drop off lane.
Staff is on duty from 8:15 - 8:30 am and 3:30 - 3:40 pm to help students out of vehicles.
Dickinson's Landing, Hawthorne, Lakeshore, West Bay
Students should walk down stairs from Dayton St.
Students must enter/exit the car on the curb side.
Staff is on duty at the crosswalk from 8:15 - 8:30 am and 3:30 - 3:40 pm.
Cars are not allowed in the cul-de-sac.
Wood Creek, Plantation, Golden Meadows, Oakmont, West Bay Springs, and West Bay Woods
Students should enter through the southwest entrance of the building.
Students must enter/exit the car on the curb side.
Staff is on duty until 8:30 am. Students that arrive after this time should use the front entrance of the building.
Any students that have not been picked up by 3:40 will be brought to the office.
Welcome Back to School Night!
Meet your teacher, see your classroom, and drop off supplies. Tuesday, August 6th from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. There will be food trucks from 5 - 7 p.m. to make dinner and dessert an easy option!

Rohwer - Oakmont Bus families
We are checking bus riders to make certain we have all students accounted for that will be riding the bus to the Oakmont neighborhood. Please complete the Google Form linked below to help us confirm our bus lists for the Oakmont neighborhood. We do not have confirmed drop off and pick up times for the bus routes as of today. Once that information is available it will be shared. Please complete the form linked here by August 5th. Thank you!
