MAP, or the Measure of Academic Progress, is a computerized adaptive test which helps teachers, parents, and administrators improve learning for all students and make informed decisions to promote a child's academic growth. Central specifically uses the MAP as one indicator to determine necessary interventions and class placements. We focus on the growth that students are making. Typical year's growth for a student is 3-5 points on the math portion. This year students will take the fall test on August 19th.
NWEA , the test developer, uses a scale called RIT. It stands for Rasch unIT. It is a unit of measure just like inches or pounds, that make it possible to measure a student's growth from year to year. Below are the RIT bands for both 7th and 8th grade based off the 2020 RIT norms. In the past, students took the test three times per year along with the NSCAS test. This year it is still up in the air if students will have to take the spring test in conjunction with the state test.
