Greetings! First I would like to say that I am so excited to be here and to teach 8th grade math. This will be my first year here at Central Middle School and I couldn't be more excited and ready to get the school year started.
My goal for this year is to ensure that my students feel safe and at home when they are in my classroom. I strive to have a positive atmosphere in the classroom to drive a better learning environment. My other goal is to give students the opportunity to gain mathematical knowledge and apply that knowledge to break down problems then solve them. I want my students to gain problem solving skills they can use individually or collaboratively in high school, college, and in their future workplace.
Here’s some information about me to get to know me better. I was born and raised in Kansas City. I have a big family, well two. I have my normal family but I also have another family, my swim family. I was a swimmer all my life. I've been in this sport as a competitive athlete but have also a coached. I have been coaching the last three years for a competitive and leisure team. I love both very much. When I graduated high school, I decided to come here to Omaha to study Math Education at College of Saint Mary. That is where I also continued my athletic career. I graduated with my Bachelor's degree recently and am ready to get to work. Outside of school, I like to spend my free time doing anything other than thinking of lesson plans. Like enjoying the outdoors, going shopping, or simply watching a movie. I do have a beautiful black cat named Boo-Boo who loves to get belly rubs.
The best way to contact me is through my school email. I will be checking my email every day from 7am-6:30pm. After 6:30pm, I wish that you respect that I will not be responding (unless it's an emergency) to emails due to the fact I will be at home petting my cat. My email address is kdaken@mpsomaha.org.
Please know that I am here for you! I want to help in any way possible so never hesitate to contact me! Thank you
