This page contains the first 300 high frequency Fry words. These are the most common words your child will encounter as they read. Many of these words cannot be "sounded out." We call some of these words "heart words." Sometimes you have to learn the whole word by heart, because the sounds are unexpected; like in the word "of." Other times, words only have one sound that the child has to learn by heart; like in the word "the."
