Elementary STEAM Academy Information and Registration

Offering STEM, robotics, photography, math, language arts and so much more, Millard's Summer School is a wonderful place for students to stay engaged and get ahead. Students who are eligible for free or reduced-priced meals are also eligible for tuition scholarships.

PANCAKE SUPPER

Zones of Regulation

What Can I Do As A Parent?

-Talk to your child about how they are feeling and recognizing what zone they are in.

-Make comments aloud so the student understands it is natural that we all experience the different Zones and use strategies to control ourselves. For example, “This is really frustrating me and making me go into the Yellow Zone. I need to use a tool to calm down. I will take some deep breaths.”

During second semester, all Abbott students will be learning about The Zones of Regulation™ curriculum or “The Zones” for short. The Zones of Regulation teaches students to identify how they are feeling and teaches coping strategies to help deal with their emotional responses. No Zone or emotion is “bad.” All of the Zones can be experienced at one time or another.

The Zones of Regulation is intended to be neutral and not communicate judgment. It gives students and staff members tools to talk about emotions and how to regulate them!
