The Pancake Man is Thursday, October 22nd from 5pm-6:30pm
The next girls on the run will be Thursday, October 22 and the 5K is on Sunday, October 25 in Lincoln.
There will be NO HOMEWORK or Spelling Tests while the students are learning about Poetry in Unit 3.
The October"Trait of a Knight" is Bravery. Each Bingo is worth 1 castle coin and a "Blackout" is worth 10 castle coins.
Please do not have your child bring personal sporting equipment to play with at recess. We encourage students to use the recess balls already provided. Thank you for understanding!

5th Grade will be "Swinging for the Fences" on an all expense paid field trip to the CHI Health Arena on Tuesday, November 10th!!! More details wil be coming out soon!!
If you have a student celebrating a birthday, they are welcome to bring store bought "birthday treats" for thier class! Please be cognizant of students who may have allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, dairy and gluten.
Please make sure your child has tennis shoes for their PE days. Mrs. LaBanz and Mr. Wiz have PE on Tu/F. and Miss Hatt and Miss Hutchinson have PE on M/TH.
Students are encouraged to bring water bottles everyday to keep in their classroom!
Reminder: 5th grade enters and exits the front doors everyday for both arrival and dismissal. Please plan pick-up accordingly.
This Week!
What are we currently learning?
Math- Students will be starting adding and subtracting fractions.
ELA- Students are learning about Poetry!
Social Studies- Students will begin learning about Geography.
Science- Students will begin learning about what makes matter.
The school day begins at 8:30am and is dismissed at 3:30pm. Your child is expected to be in their seat, ready to learn no later than 8:30am, or they will be considered tardy (aside from buses arriving late or inclement weather). Students who eat breakfast in the morning will head straight to the cafeteria as soon as they arrive.
Students are expected to follow directions, respect their peers and teachers, and work hard. If students do not demonstrate appropriate grade behavior, then consequences will be put in place.
While homework isn't assigned every night, your child may come home with some. In our class, if students don't complete work in class, it goes home for homework. This goes primarily for blue Math worksheets but can also be applied to Reading station work. We will begin using our planners once we get into a full week of learning, so be checking that to see what work your child might be coming home with to complete! The expectation is that work that isn't finished will be circled or highlighted in the planner so you and your child know what they need to complete that night.
